Planning and compilation of research programs related to breeding of crops in the country, in cooperation with research centers commensurate with the research priorities defined by the executive departments of the Ministry of Agriculture-Jahad.

Evaluation of new cultivars/promising lines/hybrids under nomenclature in farmers' fields, in cooperation with research centers and extension services, in order to introduce and develop them in production areas.

Conducting research in two applied and basic areas nationally with the assistance of affiliated research centers and stations.

Continuous interaction with executive assistants, Agriculture-Jahad organizations and farmers in order to familiarize them with the challenges available in production and monitoring the application of the results obtained from researches in production fields.

Collaboration with universities and higher education institutes inside the country and international research institutes abroad and the exchange of scientific and research information and germplasm.

Holding national and international seminars and conferences.

Supervising the execution of research programs in research departments and centers and evaluating research projects.

Production of primary basic seed for mandate crops, in accordance with running programs

Preparing scientific reports and papers relating to the research projects of the Institute, and summarizing the results and general conclusion from these results in order to publish national reports in the country.

Providing necessary facilities for education in higher academic levels and also to train the human resources and enhance their knowledge level in cooperation with the related offices under Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization

Cooperating with the Audit Committee of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization in the field of scientific and research evaluation of faculty members of research institutes and centers.
